Some restaurants now use QR codes to take your order. Some doctors write scripts that are QR coded, so you can go to the pharmacist to get you prescription. 

In this Tech Savvy Seniors - QR Codes Explained course you will learn what QR codes are, where they came from and how to use them.

Course Outline

  1. What are QR codes?
    • How to recognise them?
    • Where they came from?
  2. How to use QR codes?
  3. What to do if your phone can’t read a QR code?
  4. Are QR codes Safe?
  5. Useful uses of QR codes
    • Sign in a venue using your Driving License on the Services NSW App
    • Get medical prescriptions as a QR code 
    • Go to a restaurant that uses QR codes to order your meal
  6.  Make your own QR code for any website of your choice
    • Why would you want to do this?
    • How to do it?
    • How to use the QR code once you have created it?

Course Outcome

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Know what a QR code is
  • Know how to read a QR code
  • Know what to do if your phone cannot read a QR code
  • Know how to make your own QR codes

What to Bring

  • Notepad
  • Pen
  • Bring your own smart device - Apple iPhone, Apple iPad or Android phone or tablet.

On campus students will be provided with a computer during the class.

Prerequisite

  • A basic knowledge of smart phones – ability to access the camera app
  • If you have an older smart phone –
    • ability to access the Apple Appstore or Google Play Store
    • Ability to install apps

Classroom based: experienced and engaging trainers will take you through the course material face to face.

Classroom based learning for this course includes:

  • Scheduled class times and sessions
  • Interaction with your trainer and other students
  • Workshop is delivered in a computer room
