Bushwalk 4 - Journey Into The Lost World
Bushwalk 4 - Journey Into The Lost World - Sydney Course
Escape to the great outdoors with our resident bushwalking guide, Greg Williams, who has been leading bushwalks around Sydney for over 33 years. You can book each bushwalk individually or book the 'Bushwalking - Sunday Adventure Bushwalks Package' which includes all four bushwalks at a discounted price.
Our trek starts out from Springwood in the lower Blue Mountains near Valley Heights. This trek starts with a gentle descent following a number of creeks downstream into the Glenbrook Valley. Along this part of the route are several beautiful waterfalls while further downstream the walk opens to some immense rock pools that look the size of Olympic swimming pools. With their part sand bottoms, they look like a great place to cool off in the warmer months of the year.
We continue on through the Glenbrook Valley for a while before meeting up with our route that will take us to the Blue Mountains Lost World. There is a sign at this junction warning that this is a ‘route only’ and suitable for ‘experienced bushwalkers only’. The path to the Lost World plateau is long and tedious but worth every foot step you take to get to the lookout on which stands the memorial cross of the late Reverend Raymer. The reverend was an avid bushwalker in this area, but sadly while on excursion to a beach in Wollongong with some of his students he drowned while trying to save one of them who was having difficulty in the water. After having a well-deserved break and viewing the Reverend’s Memorial Cross, we commence the passage back across the plateau. Then descend into the valley for our climb to the valley’s adjacent lookout where there are views back to the Lost World and the Memorial Cross that stands upon the escarpment. At this lookout you’ll find a small plaque, and along with the Cross honours the late Christian Brother Reverend Raymer.
All bushwalks have morning tea provided with tea, coffee and delicious chocolate treats available.
A Course Information Guide regarding the bushwalk will be provided beforehand. Please consult the Course Information Guide prior to the walk for comprehensive information on meeting places, start times, travel directions and more.
