Join us for this fun filled hands on workshop. Learn how to create your very own fluid acrylic pouring masterpieces. This art form is very popular and the class will provide you with everything you need to know about acrylic pouring so that you can create your own pieces.

The technique of acrylic pouring is very unique and as a result it will leave you with one of a kind results. No two artworks will ever be the same.

In this class, you will learn how to combine acrylic paint and be able to watch the cells on your masterpiece come to life. You will explore the fun and very addictive techniques of 'dirty pours', 'flip cups' and 'puddle pours'.

By the end of this class, you will have created 3 eye-catching artwork pieces (8”x 10”) to take home to decorate your walls or to give away as a unique gifts for friends.

This is a class suitable for beginners - no experience is required. You don’t need to be able to draw or paint in order to learn how to pour. No paint brush or paint pallet is required either. However, this is a messy art form so make sure you wear clothes that you are happy to get a splash of paint on.

Course Outline

Expect to get paint on you somewhere. You will make 3 art pieces, which you will be able to take home once dried.

In this course, we will cover:

  • Safety precautions for working with paint and additives, and typical workspace setup
  • What type of equipment is needed and why
  • What is gesso? Why use it? How to use it?
  • What type of paints can be used
  • Basic paint recipe
  • What type of additives can be used to make cells
  • How much paint you need per pour
  • Advice on how long it takes for paint to dry
  • Should I cover my piece after I’ve poured?
  • How to clean the surface of your painting ready for sealing

Course Outcome

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Know what equipment you need to be able to do your own pour and where to find it
  • Know what you need and how to prepare your workspace
  • Prepare a canvas ready for a pour
  • Mix paint to the right consistency
  • Seal your piece when it is dry

What to bring

  • Old clothes that you are happy to get paint on. It is also a good idea to wear an apron too.
  • Pen and notepad should you wish to take notes
  • An empty water bottle that you can use in class
  • A bottle of water that you can drink during class

All other materials will be supplied.

Prerequisite

This level is for the complete beginner and assumes no prior knowledge.

Important Information

This workshop is a 3hr session. Unfortunately, you will not be able to take your paintings home with you as your pieces will still be drying at the end of the class. These will need to be picked up at a later time.
