Sophia Sourlas

Sophia is a Visual Art teacher with 26 years experience in secondary schools. She holds a Bachelor in Education (Art) and completed her Master in Art (Painting & Drawing) in 2002. Areas of expertise include Drawing, Painting, Design, Graphics, Black/White and Digital photography. Sophia is also a practising artist who has exhibited regularly for over 28 years in Australia with private collections in New Zealand, Greece, France and the United Kingdom.

Sophia?s art practice encompasses a variety of media including acrylic paintings on canvas, black/white and digital photographic images. The artworks express experiences and ideas from a personal perspective, which are intuitive, emotive and symbolic as well as highly imaginative.

Paintings often address a thematic approach from figurative landscapes and abstraction to the spiritual. Photographic works also follow similar themes of storytelling a personal journey of healing, discovery and identity as well as embodying an optimistic attitude and love of life, nature and human dynamics.
