Almis Simans
Resume
Almis Siman (Simankevicius)
Almis Simans is an avid traveller who has walked many of the classic trails in Europe, including the Spanish Camino, the Way of St. James in France, Offa’s Dyke in Wales and the Coast to Coast Walk in England.
He teaches a number of travel related courses at Sydney’s adult education centres. Making the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela inspired him to write his first book ?SANTIAGO – Walking the pilgrim path? and since then he has written three others, dealing with personal travel. He has a great interest in making walking journeys accessible to people, especially to those who have the desire but haven’t yet ventured out upon a classic journey. His latest book, ?Macquarie?s Kingdom?, explores Sydney?s colonial heritage and tells the story of Lachlan Macquarie?s twelve year rule in New South Wales from 1810 to 1821 as well as being a guide book for Sydney-siders, students and visitors.
