What is Yoga?
Yoga is a scientific fitness system that uses gentle yet dynamic postures (Asanas) and various breathing and relaxation techniques to achieve balance in the body. It is probably the most widely recognised Hatha yoga technique in the world. BKS Iyengar is responsible for much of the modern understanding of Hatha yoga as well as the development and use of yoga props such as bolsters, blankets, belts and blocks as an aid and support for students. This method of teaching pays particularly close attention to placement and alignment of the body and the props can assist precision and extension in the postures.
