Drawing with Pastels

Drawing with Pastels

Drawing with Pastels - Sydney Course

We offer training in face to face and/or online learning formats.

  • Please see scheduled class for delivery format.
  • Online classes delivered via livestream video over Zoom.

In this Drawing with Pastels course, you will learn to use pastels to produce pictures with rich colours and soft textures. Soft chalk pastels are very a versatile medium for both bold and delicate styles of art. Their brilliant colours glow on the textured, coloured papers used by pastel artists.

Pastels can be used to draw in a linear way with the point or on the side like a brush for areas of colour, blending and glazing, without the need to mix with paint. Their forgiving nature makes them easy to rework. Being able to get quick results makes pastels very satisfying and great fun to use.

You will learn a variety of pastel techniques, understand composition and perspective as well as the logic of colour and tone.

This course is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience of drawing.
