Italian - Beginners - Sydney Course

The Italian - Beginners course is suitable for students who have already completed the Introduction to Italian course or have some basic vocabulary and familiarisation with the language from past study, family or travel.

In this course, you will develop your speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. You will expand your vocabulary to include colours, food, numbers and more.
By the end of this course, you will be able to have a basic conversation and introduce family and friends, describe people, tell the time, look at food menus and purchase fruit and vegetables.

Course Outline

  • Introduce family and friends
  • Describe people
  • Ask and give directions
  • Tell the time
  • Identify colours
  • Use Numbers 30 – 1,000
  • Food menus
  • Purchase fruit and vegetables.
  • Grammar: Definite articles in the plural. Partitives (some). Regular and common irregular verbs. Negative.

Course Outcome

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Conduct a basic conversation in elementary Italian
  • Give basic instructions and directions and build general comprehension and communication skills

Prerequisite: Essential

  • Students need to have completed an introductory course, one term or a minimum of 16 hours tuition or have equivalent knowledge.
