This Everyday English Language - Intermediate course, will assist you with learning strategies, workplace and community reading and writing, numeracy, oral communication and digital literacy. Join the class for a fun and interactive experience whilst learning key skills.
The curriculum used for Everyday English Language - Intermediate is 22476VIC Certificate I in General Education for Adults (Introductory) . Course outcomes focus on the skills and knowledge to conduct a project, to investigate pathways and develop, develop and document a learning plan. The language, literacy and numeracy outcomes of this course align to Level 2 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
This course is aimed at individuals who require foundational skills support in basic English in order to improve their career opportunities.
It is suitable for individuals who require:
- oral communication, reading, writing, numeracy and learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 2; or
- a career pathway, career preparation for employment or career training; or
- digital technology and entry level employability skills.

Course Outline
In this course you will learn:
- how to develop a learning plan and a portfolio
- how to plan and undertake a project
- how to write text types for various purposes
- how to participate in a routine spoken interaction
- how to read text types for different purposes
- how to write workplace and community information of limited complexity
- how to work in a team
- how to identify community options
- health literacy
- how to conduct an investigation
The language, literacy and numeracy outcomes of this course align to Level 2 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
After completing this course, students may be able to study further Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) courses and build on their English skills for personal, community and work purposes.
Course Outcome
At the end of the course, you will be able to :
- engage in simple conversations
- read and write simple texts for various purposes
- operate a personal computer
- interpret and work with simple numbers, directions, measurements and shapes in everyday life
- identify common digital media
- conduct a project with guidance
At the end of the course, you will be issued a certificate in 22476VIC Certificate I in General Education for Adults (Introductory), where competency has been achieved.
This course will give you the skills to be more equipped and confident in the work place, or to participate in further study in preparation for employment.

Prerequisite: Essential
An appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills is required to enrol in this course. Macquarie Community College may conduct an LLN assessment as part of the pre enrolment process.
Reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) exit Level 1 or above is required.

Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:
- An entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III.
- Government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.

In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.
Students who are eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and/or credit transfer from previous study will have their fee adjusted to reflect this. The amended fee will be confirmed by Training Services NSW and will be reflected in the adjusted Student Fee Statement.
Payment Plans are available through Macquarie Community College for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications. 10% deposit OR $40 (whichever is greater) required upon enrolment followed by Interest-free payment plan. Payment methods: EFTPOS, Direct Deposit, Direct Debit, Visa or MasterCard.

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning
Credit transfer (CT) is defined in the AQF as follows:
- Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is defined in the AQF as follows:
- Recognition of prior learning is an assessment process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior learning (including formal, informal and non-formal learning) to determine the credit outcomes of an individual application for credit.
This is underpinned by the AQF definition of credit as follows:
- Credit is the value assigned for the recognition of equivalence in content and learning outcomes between different types of learning and/or qualifications.
- Credit reduces the amount of learning required to achieve a qualification and may be through credit transfer, articulation, recognition of prior learning or advanced standing.

How You Will Be Assessed
Assessment (including recognition of prior learning) must:
- Meet the requirements of the relevant training package or accredited course, and
- Be conducted in accordance with the principles of assessment and the rules of evidence, and
- Meet workplace and, where relevant, regulatory requirements.
For this course assessment will entail the following:
- Assessment methods include written and oral tasks, practical tasks and observation by the assessor. You will be informed when assessments are to take place.
