Have you ever wanted to learn hand embroidery skills, a new stitch technique or perhaps finish off an old craft project?
This hands-on course will teach you most forms of embroidery techniques, including surface stitchery, traditional embroidery, smocking, embellishments including beading, patchwork and quilting, crochet, heirloom sewing and more.
This course is suitable for beginners or those wanting to improve their current skills.
By the end of the course you will have learnt specific skills and techniques in embroidery, stitching and needlecraft and produced a sample or product in your chosen technique.

Course Outline
This course will involve a combination of teacher demonstrations and student practical work. You will complete individual projects at your own pace with guidance from the tutor.

- Pulled and drawn thread
- Cross stitch
- Ribbon embroidery
- Canvas work
- Shisha work
- Tambour work
- Embellishments including beading
- Patchwork and quilting
- Applique
- Candlewicking
- Smocking
- Heirloom sewing
- Stumpwork
- Knitting
- Crochet
- Garment construction
Course Outcome
By the end of the course you will have learnt specific skills and techniques in embroidery, stitching and needlecraft and produced a sample or product in your chosen technique.
What to Bring
Each week you will need to bring:
- Pen and notebook
- Pencil
- Embroidery scissors
- Pins
- Tape measure
- Embroidery hoop (20cm is a good size)
- Selection of hand sewing needles
- Selection of embroidery threads
- 30cm piece of plain cotton material for practice stitches
- Thimble
Prerequisite: Desirable
Students do not need to have any prior knowledge of any embroidery, stitching and needlecraft techniques.
This class is suitable for beginners to advanced levels of embroidery skills.
