Barista 101 - Coffee School (Darcy St. Project)  - Sydney Course

Learn the art of making café quality espresso coffees with our beginner Barista 101 - Coffee Skills Darcy St. Project class. Perfect for anyone interested in working at a café or improving their coffee making skills at home. This is a beginner class where you will cover the basic of coffee culture in addition to coffee making techniques.  

This Barista 101 - Coffee Skills (Darcy St. Project) class is hands on and each participant will be making several beverages from a typical espresso menu (for example Lattes, Flat Whites, Cappuccinos, Long Blacks and other speciality coffees).

The class is delivered by experts from the Darcy Street Project using commercial espresso equipment and the training is relevant and up to date with current industry trends.

Course Outline

In this course you will learn:

  • Coffee Culture & Specialty Coffee
  • Espresso Equipment Overview and Demonstration
  • Espresso Extraction and Recipes 
  • Milk Texturing Techniques
  • Basic Espresso Menu Samples

Course Outcome

What to Bring

  • Notepad and pen
  • All participants are required to wear comfortable clothing (ideally all black to avoid coffee stains) and must wear enclosed non slip shoes (no thongs, sandals or open toe footwear permitted due to safety)

Prerequisite: Desirable

Students do not need to have any previous experience. Coffee drinker.

Delivery Mode

The class is delivered at Darcy Street Project Epping Café. Using commercial espresso equipment and using fresh coffee roasted in Western Sydney. Participants will each take turns in the coffee making process and will be able to enjoy samples made in class. In some classes we serve real customers so that there is maximum experience to becoming a barista in 2023.

*The course can be delivered in a classroom. We setup a pop up espresso bar and deliver the same experience as a coffee bar in a café.

Class based: experienced and engaging trainers will take you through the course material face to face.
