Aquafitness for Over 50's - Sydney Course

Aqua Areobics for Over 50's specifically caters for people aged over 50 years. No experience is needed. This course does not require an ability to swim. Water provides a great support and resistance and allows a full range of movements without strain. Aquafitness gives you a full body workout while you enjoy the massaging effects of the water. Course Outline

The instructor demonstrates the exercises and the class mirrors the movement. Both verbal and visual cues are used. Participants can work at their own pace so that the workout is specific to them. Tips will be given on how to modify the exercises if you have physical limitations i.e. a bad back, knee problems, etc.

During this course you will learn:

  • Warm ups, aerobic work, resistance training and stretching
  • A variety of base exercises with more added each week, using an array of equipment designed to strengthen muscles
  • How to use noodles, wings, dumbbells and partners for resistance work

Course Outcome

You can expect increases in flexibility, muscle strength, and toning of the whole body. Due to the support provided by the water, there is very little pressure on joints and the body can experience a gentle massaging effect from the water’s movement.

What to Bring

You will need to bring:

  • Water bottle
  • Towel
  • Swimming cap for during the lesson

Prerequisite: Essential

Pre-exercise screening questionnaire and waiver must completed before the start of class.
