OUR OPERATIONS

Macquarie Community College is a not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that has set the standard in adult community education since our beginnings in 1950.

Our three main program areas are English language and literacy tuition, Career Training for jobseekers and those changing or accelerating their careers, and our open entry short courses for Leisure and Self-improvement.

Macquarie Community College has expanded its services and locations over 70 years and now serves a diverse range of communities across northern and western Sydney from its campus locations in Blacktown, Carlingford, Chatswood, Mt Druitt, Richmond and Ryde – in addition to hundreds of classes delivered in other community and employer sites.

We balance our delivery and engagement across permanent, regular and temporary delivery sites so that we meet the needs of our clients

We create and deliver quality courses and services that increase capability, capacity and opportunities for stronger communities and employment. We develop and continuously improve our programs with feedback from our clients and the input and collaboration of our program staff, trainers, Government, community and other organisations.

We offer a range of accredited and non-accredited courses designed to offer our clients flexible, quality education and training to enhance their skills, their career opportunities, participation and connections in community.

Programs include

  • Qualifications and specialist training for employment in growing industries such as aged care, childcare, disability and business
  • English Language and literacy programs for migrants
  • Employability and foundation skills training for jobseekers
  • Digital literacy and other skills for learners that face barriers
  • A diverse range of open entry short courses for life-long learners including Arts and Crafts, Foreign Language, Fitness and Sports, Cooking, Photography, DIY

We are especially skilled in working with migrants from non-English speaking backgrounds and those facing barriers to participation in education and training.

We strive to make all participants feel welcome, supported and respected and delight in the diversity of their cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, ages, beliefs, and abilities.

Macquarie Community College is a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee. We are governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. We are supported by members.

The Company has a wholly-owned subsidiary MCC Child and Family Services which operates Gateway Community High.

The company is a not-for-profit, non-government, apolitical, non-sectarian, community-based organisation dedicated to life-long learning and the development of individuals, organisations and communities.

We are registered as a Charity by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and hold deductible gift recipient (DGR) status.

As a registered training organisation (RTO 90033) we are regulated by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). We are a member of Community Colleges Australia.

Career Training

Whether you are kick starting a new career or developing skills for your current career, we can provide you with hands-on, practical training to help you excel at work. Our career training courses are developed with the learner and employer in mind. We provide solutions for employers, employees and job seekers, in the areas of business & work skills, digital literacy, aged care & disability services, childcare services, as well as work-related personal development.

English Language

Our popular English Language programs provide beginners, intermediate and advanced students with confidence and improved English skills for work and study purposes. The broad range of courses include day and evening classes and offer specialised training for English as a Second Language (ESL) students in accent reduction, Australian business communication and English for the workplace. This program also offers tailored business communication packages for the corporate workplace.

Leisure and Self Improvement

For over 70 years, Macquarie Community College has been meeting the life-long learning needs of the local community with a diverse offering of quality courses for leisure and self-improvement .
There are hundreds of short courses on offer, with new courses being added each term. Students can learn various styles of dance, get fit in yoga or pilates, go bushwalking, play tennis, join a cooking class, make something in furniture restoration and french polishing, learn a foreign language or try a new and interesting hobby like floral arrangement.
